For months now I have been in search for a skincare product to help tackle my oily skin. Applying makeup can be very hard work, especially having to top up every few hours during the day (which can be a little bit of a chore if your anything like me!). My t-zone is my main problematic area especially my NOSE!! Every time I put makeup on my nose it just… disappears! It’s awful because it’s the most prominent part of your face so its very noticeable. Saying this, I’ve tried endless primers, moisturisers, setting sprays and nothing seems to help so I am literally praying for a miracle right now.

I was looking online for skincare products which could potentially help like toners or tonics etc and came across the lush website (definitely wasn’t by accident ha! – who can say no when it comes to shopping or buying a product from LUSH..). I hadn’t tried many face masks from LUSH as bath bombs are my thanggg from there, but I have heard extremely good things about them, especially the ‘fresh’ masks.

I came across ‘Brazened Honey’ which was one of the fresh face masks out of a vast selection they hold. I was advised in LUSH that this was the most suited mask for my face from what problems I was describing to the sales assistant. This tub contains 75g and costs £7.50. You get roughly 5 uses out of the tub and because it is fresh it has to be kept in the fridge. It also has an expiry date which is usually within 2 – 3 weeks of the product being made as it is fresh and has all natural ingredients inside.

Lush says “Refresh and Detoxify your skin – wake up your skin with this fresh face mask containing fresh fennel, ginger root, parsley and coriander to detox and stimulate. We use a sage, rosemary and juniperberry infusion with cardamom and clove bud oils for their antiseptic qualities, fresh lime juice to cleanse the skin and free range eggs, honey and almond oil to smooth and moisturise.” There is nothing in the description that specifically mentions oily skin however the detoxifying agents really caught me! The natural ingredients in this mask make everything great as you know you are not putting any nasty or chemically ingredients onto your skin as it is a very delicate part of your body.

The way to use this product is easy and as from lush says – “Smooth a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 mins.” I loved the texture of this mask, it has a thick consistency and is full of natural ingredients so this meant the smell wasn’t anything too fantastic but it wasn’t unbearable. It was very cold though so prepare for a chill! I applied this to my cheeks, nose and forehead which are the main areas of issue on my face and applied a sizeable amount to cover the areas I needed to. Over the 15 minutes the mask became harder and firmer on the skin which I washed away with warm water and a flannel. The mask has natural exfoliants inside so when you washed it off, it was rough because it was making my skin supperrrr smooth! Yes! And I was hoping it would help me with my dry-ass nose!

First impressions of this mask, personally, i really enjoyed using this. My skin was incredibly smooth afterwards and surprisingly made my skin smell nice too!  I like how it is packed with natural ingredients. This product could be quite harsh on the skin as it is quite rich so the assistant in lush recommended use of only 1-2 times a week. I could see this being incorporated into my Sunday night bath routine! Lush! Ive only used this mask once so I cannot give a 100% 5 star rating, I really want to from the first use! I think the exfoliation and natural ingredients could really help tackle oils in skin and bring it to its natural balance. It would remove any dead skin where the oil has clung to as well, giving you a smooth, fresh face. My skin felt amazing! I’ll definitely be using this again.

I applied makeup that same evening and i was pleasantly surprised. My nose problem, was no problem?! My nose was so incredibly exfoliated and smooth, the makeup went on so smoothly! It didn’t help with any of my pores but it definitely took off any dead skin on my face and created a smooth base to apply makeup! I don’t know how long this would last but i feel like 2 applications a week would be ideal – I don’t wear makeup everyday anyways so this would be perfect!

The good thing about lush is if you take back 5 empty tubs you get a free one back! I like schemes like this.

You can find LUSH’s fresh face mask range here.

Lots of love
