When I first heard about Colourpop releasing new highlighters I was pretty excited to get my hands on them! There’s been a lot of hype the last year or so with the Colourpop pressed ‘Shock’ highlighters already on the market so I did wonder what type of highlighter they would be, so to find out these were liquid was an even better reaction! The shock highlighters are absolutely gorgeous and are extremely pigmented so creating something to wow us even more would be quite a challenge.
They are ordered directly from the Colourpop website which can be found here along with the famous liquid lipsticks and eye shadow singles. These Crystal Liquid Highlighters are priced at $9.00 each and come in four shades – Aquamarine, Aventurine, Amethyst and Rose Quartz of which I only have two being Aquamarine and Aventurine (the other two were out of stock BUT I am dying to get my hands on Rose Quartz!).
The packaging itself for these highlighters is absolutely stunning all being presented in the same style box but all having their own unique colours, for example Aquamarine presented with blue and Aventurine with green. The detail on the packaging has been thought about in detail with a gold glitter like effect running around the box merging in with each presented colour – I think this is really nice and well thought about! There is a slight holographic effect to the box when a light hits it in a certain place. The embossed detail on the front of the box is also a lovely touch, it really brings it all together!
HOW MUCH ARE YOU GETTING?
Each highlighter contains 25ml which is equal to 0.85 fluid ounces which in my opinion is a good amount for the price but looking at the size comparison to my hand, may seem a little small. Each highlighter comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a plastic PUMP… yes a PUMP! Hallelujah! I’m sure most of you know how irritating it is to have a product and no pump! You definitely only need one small pump of these highlighters for it to be enough on the face and perhaps the body. The consistency of these highlighters is very creamy but not too thick so they are easily bendable on the skin. I use a damp beauty blender to blend it out on my face. The product doesn’t have much of a smell to it either which would be good for sensitive skin too.
I feel like this product wouldn’t be suitable to wear with oil-based products as it is quite oily itself and may not be beneficial to someone with oily skin, but in this case it would be perfect to wear on the body as apposed to the face. You could however mix a small pump in with a daily moisturiser or foundation to get that all over glow – but again, not sure how well the two products would mix. I’m not 100% sure how waterproof this highlighter is but it would be a good thing to find out!
“Adventurine is a form of quartz, characterised by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral inclusions that give a shimmering or glistening effect termed adventurescence.”
This highlighter has a gold glitter tone and looks gorgeous on the skin. It appears iridescent in the bottle but once applied to the skin shows a gorgeous golden glow! It would be well suited for all skin types, especially on darker skin tones. I haven’t yet worn this on the skin but I am in love with the way it swatches and the colour is to die for. You could definitely wear this colour as often as you wanted as it gives a golden, summer glow.
“Aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marinus, meaning “water of the sea,” and refers to its sparkling ocean-like colour.”
The colour of this highlighter in the glass bottle looks like it has blue toned glitter but when on the skin appears more purple, with a hint of blue depending on where the light catches it. I recently wore this highlighter on my cheek bones and it was really nice however you can definitely tell you do have a blue/purple highlighter on even when its been blended out which personally, I don’t like this look. I wore it with a white pressed glitter over the top and my goodness, I could be seen from heaven – SERIOUS glowwwww going on! (I guess that is the whole point of a highlighter..) It is not something you could wear everyday unless you can rock it – I don’t think I could to be honest! But if you were to go out and have plenty of photos taken of you, this would make you SHINE, so its perfect for that!
This particular colour of highlight would be well-suited for paler skin tones.
I hope you found these two highlighters as stunning as I do and i’m excited to see what the other two will look like when I can finally get my hands on them!
Let me know in the comments if you have tried these and what your opinions are on them or if you are planning on buying a bottle. I HIGHLY recommend them, especially to those who enjoy a good liquid highlighter and a blinding glow!
Speak to you soon!
